Sponsorship

Because we PAY our translators a good deal of money ($50 per 25 minutes, $60 or more if it is dialogue-heavy), we like to take sponsors to help us subtitle more anime. Sponsors are basically people who give a donation to pay our translators' fees. In exchange for a donation, the sponsor receives either a VHS or SVHS master (in other words, ran off directly from the LD/DVD player through the genlock subtitler to our video decks). Masters are of extremely high quality and good for people who are crazy quality freaks like me, or other fansub distribution sites who want to ensure that fans are getting high quality tapes. Random Masters, however, is our own official distributor and only guarantees the quality of tapes that come directly from us.

All sponsors get the appropriate master(s) with their name or chosen alias in the tape credits, a website or email address, and a (non-offensive) plug for their website.) For example, the Sexy Commando SVHS masters for UGAnime read -

Mastered for UGAnime

www.uga.edu/uganime

UGA's Official Japanese Animation

On this web page, we have a list of the titles we are taking sponsorships for. Please note that the sponsor's money is due only AFTER we complete the tape. Your money will not be requested until we are ready to send the master to you. Some slots do not have as many slots as others because the series was shorter or we required fewer translations. You may still sponsor things after we have subtitled them if slots are available. We need the money.

The cost of sponsorship is $15 for a VHS master and $40 for an SVHS master. The difference between the prices is that SVHS is used mainly by other distribution sites. We can fill our slots with the average Joe by keeping VHS masters relatively cheap. This list is only for those sponsoring SVHS masters.

Important Note #2: Sponsorship is not required for us to finish projects. We will subtitle something even if we do not receive any sponsors at all. Sponsorship allows us to work move quickly, because our translators can translate anime faster than we can make money working 9-5 mon-fri to pay them :)

Lastly, if you want to obtain a VHS master after a project has been completed, you may do so for $15 (hey, that’s the same price!). The money will go to our general subtitling-related/translating expenses. We do not distribute or trade 1st generation SVHS tapes off SVHS masters. If you would like a SVHS master, please email me at webmaster@randommasters.com .
